Volume 55 of Erasmi Opera Omnia published
On 6 December, Brill published the fifty-fifth volume of the edition of all Erasmus’ works (Erasmi Opera Omnia, also known as ASD after Amsterdam), containing the Latin text with commentary and introduction. This is part IX, 10. ‘IX’ is the ‘ordo’ or section of the polemical works, and of these the tenth part. It contains the writings against Luther, and Erasmus’ work on marriage and celibacy. Furthermore, this volume contains the edition with Erasmus’ commentary of the Disticha Catonis, two-line Latin poems for school use. The publication started in the 1960s, and now another thirteen volumes will appear. The series is coordinated by the Huygens Institute.
