Dutch-Indonesian relations 1950-1963

The online Dutch-language documentary edition on Dutch-Indonesian relations between 1950 and 1963 entitled Nederlands-Indonesische betrekkingen 1950-1963 complements an earlier printed publication, also in Dutch, entitled Officiële bescheiden betreffende de Nederlands-Indonesische betrekkingen 1945-1950 [Trans. ‘Policy papers on Dutch-Indonesian relations between 1945-1950’]. The latter focuses on Dutch-Indonesian relations from 1945 to 1950. For the sake of brevity, these publications will be referred to henceforth as NIB 45-50 and NIB 50-63, respectively. The NIB 50-63 deals with the policy of the Dutch government towards both Indonesia and New Guinea between 1950 and 1963. It contains more than six thousand annotated documents. Depending on the legibility and quality of the original document, they have been incorporated either as an image of the original document or as a typed transcript. The electronic version of the document was then given its own unique identification number. This number links the document to the relevant record. Records and the electronic versions of the documents together form the database which can be sorted and searched in a variety of ways.
