This book contains the printed reflection of the 10th biannual conference of editors of diplomatic documents, organized in The Hague by the Huygens Institute of Netherlands History (Huygens ING) in collaboration with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 14-16 October 2009. The conference coincided with the completion of a document edition on Dutch development cooperation policy between 1945 and 1989. Against this background the present volume brings together eight contributions by prominent scholars dealing with the place of development aid in foreign policy, both in donor countries and in recipient countries.
