Biography

Henrike Vellinga (1998) is a recently graduated historian, specialised in colonial history. She recently graduated from Leiden University with a research master’s degree in political and cultural history. Her thesis focused on the link between anti-colonial activism and pacifism in the interwar period. Before that, she obtained a master’s degree in European History from Leiden University, the Sorbonne and the University of Oxford. As a student of Balliol College, she wrote her master’s thesis on poison research in the Dutch East Indies in the late 19th century.

At the Globalise project, Henrike works on creating historical datasets about the history of the Dutch East Inda Company. To this end, she specialises in a wide array of topics, such as textile trade and early modern weights and measures.
