Bente Frissen (1997) studied Art History and English Language and Culture at Leiden University. She also stayed at the University of Pittsburgh for a semester. Her master degree, Art, Market and Connoisseurship, was obtained at the Vrije Universiteit, where she conducted research on the relationship between art, botanical science and (colonial) trade relations in the early modern period. After that, she worked at the Rijksmuseum, where she was involved in several projects. During this time she specialised in Netherlandish paintings from the seventeenth century.
At the Huygens Instituut, Bente works for the Werk aan Uitvoering-project, which focuses on improving public services by enhancing accessibility and findability of the online resources managed by the Huygens Institute. Her interests include (paintings from) the early modern period, collecting practices and collection development, and the intersection and interaction between history and art history.
