Historical Food Preservation: A Seminar Series
This monthly seminar series is presented by the New York Botanical Garden’s Humanities Institute (NYBG) and the Huygens Institute for Dutch History and Culture and deals with a question that has fascinated people for thousands of years: how do we preserve food? Historians in the fields of science, art and capitalism will participate in these discussions and approach this issue from a multidisciplinary and transregional perspective.
The seminars are scheduled for February 25, March 25, April 29, May 27, and June 6.
This series is moderated by Dr. Marieke Hendriksen (Huygens Institute) and Dr. Lucas Mertehikian (NYBG), and coordinated by Ph.D. (c) Edurne De Wilde (Huygens Institute/Leiden University).
