Specialisation History of the Second World War in the Netherlands

Iris Bouman (1998) studied History at Utrecht University and Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Amsterdam and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies. After working as Assistant Editor at historical journal BMGN – Low Countries Historical Review, she began working as a research assistant for the NIOD ImageLab project Behind the Star, focused on photographs of the Holocaust in the Netherlands.

She currently coordinates a crowdsource project for the Railway Museum, in which volunteers describe the digitized image collection. As a writer/researcher within the project Oorlog voor de Rechter, she works on explaining commonly used judicial and historical terms to make the CABR-files more accessible.

In her free time, she writes about music for 3voor12 Utrecht and about queer history for Queer U Stories.
