Biography
Marnix van Berchum is the DI coordinator at the Huygens Institute. He coordinates the IT components within Huygens Instituteās research projects and is therefore the link between research, data management and the activities of the Digital Infrastructure department.
Marnix studied musicology at Utrecht University. He specialises in the musical culture of the 16th century, and the application of digital tools in this field. In his PhD research he is applying the concepts and methods of network theory to the dissemination of music in the sixteenth century. In particular, he researches the polyphonic settings of the ‘Te deumĀ laudamus’ in the Lutheran tradition. In previous positions (including with SURF and DANS), he gained broad experience in projects concerning research data, open access, and digital musicology.
